Synopsis:

Today will be the pick day of the next five. Abundant sunshine and mild readings are anticipated as high pressure dominates.

On Thursday, low pressure will track from the Southern plains to the Eastern Great Lakes. Clouds will thicken during the morning. On and off showers are likely with balmy readings during the afternoon.

Friday will feature mostly cloudy skies and guess what? Mild temperatures. We’ll be in between systems.

The front will push offshore Friday night. A couple of areas of low pressure will develop along the front to the South for the weekend. The first wave will push offshore Saturday morning sparring the area any rainfall. A mix of sun and clouds is anticipated for the beginning of the weekend. Sunday’s low will be more robust developing in the vicinity of the Carolina’s, but this to looks to push out to sea resulting in more clouds than sun for Sunday. Both days readings will be a few degrees above the average high of 40º.

Synopsis:

High pressure along the East coast will move offshore today. Sun this morning will give way to more clouds this afternoon. The winds will have relaxed and readings for a change to be more seasonable. A weak disturbance rapidly moving in from the West will cause the threat of showers this evening.

Saturday’s forecast is questionable. As of this writing, JMW is keeping it dry. But, if the storm slows just offshore and redevelops than we’ll have to update the conditions for the start of the weekend.

Monday through Wednesday will feature a mix of clouds and sun as high pressure basically dominates. Readings will be above average. The average high is in the upper 30s to around 40º. Not feeling like February whatsoever.

On Thursday, low pressure will track from the Southern plains to the Eastern Great Lakes. This is a warm storm track, like all the storms this Winter season. On and off rain or showers are likely with balmy readings.

Friday will feature many sunny skies and guess what? Mild temperatures. We’ll be in between storm systems. The cold air is located over the Northern plains.

The next potential threat of precipitation will be Friday night into Saturday as another low develops to our South. At this time, mainly rain is expected. Yawn.

Temperatures will remain at least ten to fifteen degrees below average for afternoon highs.

Temperatures tonight in urban areas will remain steady from Saturday’s highs as the core of the frigid air moves far out into the Atlantic. Inland readings will drop some.

Sunny, windy and becoming frigid today. Highs will occur just before sunrise and fall throughout the afternoon into the teens. Wind chills by mid-afternoon will be around 5 above over Southern areas to as low as -10 to the North. A slap in the face heading out doors for sure, especially due to the anonymously warm Winter we have had.

Synopsis:

January 2023 has come to a close and is the warmest January on record for Central Park. This is a 154 year old record. Record keeping began in 1869. Simply amazing. The old record was January 1932, the mean temperature for the month was 43.2º. This January the mean temperatures was a sultry 43.5º.

Scattered snow showers are possible with the most concentrated area along the coast and to the South and East through mid morning. A dusting to coating of snow is possible mainly near the coast and parts of Long Island. A disturbance on a front to the South riding along an old frontal boundary will be responsible for the flakes. The sun will return for all areas during the day on Wednesday.  Highs will seasonable for February’s debut.

A tranquil Thursday is in the forecast as weather systems will be weak over the Northeast.  Readings will moderate some.
