Synopsis:
A significant season changing airmass has moved into the area. Plummeting temperatures and gusty winds are anticipated into Saturday under a mix of sun and clouds as a cold pool of air works in from Canada. Temperatures will remain in the 30 through the weekend. The winds will abate on Sunday making for a somewhat more comfortable day. Clouds will thickening and snow showers are likely later in the afternoon as a system develops to our West.
Snow Lovers may have something to cheer about especially if you live North and West of the City. The latest European model TAKEN VERBATIM (2nd map above) shows a hit of snow Sunday night into Monday morning. There has been a notable change with the latest computer guidance. The primary low over the Ohio valley will NOW remain the dominate feature. This will result in a slightly warmer atmosphere for our area. Yes, high pressure in Quebec will supply the cold air, but the high will lose its influence over the coastal plain. The snow will change to rain at the coast and farther to the South during Monday morning. A minor accumulation is possible here before the changeover. Inland the cold air will be stubborn to erode. This will result in higher snow amounts with a change to freezing rain and or rain for some areas. Stay tuned.
