Oppressive Today. Last Hot One…

 

Synopsis:

Today will be oppressive. It’ll also be the last of the stretch of hot days we’ve been experiencing. The heat index will approach 105º in many areas. Hazy sun with scattered late day storms are in the forecast as a cool front approaches. Keep an eye to the sky for threatening weather.

Finally relief! Wednesday will feel like a different season as a refreshing airmass pushes in from the North. Temperatures will be at least ten degrees lower than today and the humidity will be much lower as well under a mix of clouds and sun.

A weak low may develop off the coast Thursday morning resulting in the possibility of scattered showers, especially for Eastern areas. Skies should become mainly sunny by afternoon. Seasonable readings are expected.

Spectacular weather is expected Friday into the weekend as high pressure moves in from the Northwest. Abundant sunshine, pleasantly warm readings and low humidity is expected. We have been rewarded!

It’ll be hot with very high humidity through at least tomorrow. A mix of sun and clouds is expected. This pattern is very typical for this time of the year. A West to South flow around a Bermuda high will be responsible for our conditions.

The heat will peak on Tuesday with readings possibly getting into the mid 90s.

Tuesday’s late day storms are possible as a result of an  approaching cool front. Tuesday should be the last of the hot days of this stretch. The front may get hung up over the region on Wednesday. If so, showers and thunderstorms will be possible it will still be humid but not as hot.

Morning showers are possible Thursday and the front works offshore. True relief from the uncomfortable conditions should arrive by then.

Friday looks to be the best of the bunch with plenty of sunshine, seasonable temperatures and low humidity.

It’ll we very warm to hot with very high humidity into early next week. This pattern is very typical for this time of the year. A West to South flow around a Bermuda high will be responsible for our conditions.

The latest computer guidance has scaled back the thunderstorm threat both today and Sunday afternoon and evening. An isolated storm is possible at that time but most of the region will remain storm-free.

Monday will be the hottest day of the bunch under abundant sunshine.

Tuesday’s late day storms are possible as a result of an  approaching cool front. Tuesday should be the last of the hot days of this stretch. The front may get hung up over the region on Wednesday. If so, showers and thunderstorms will be possible. If the front is progressive, the sun will dominate and it will be less humid. Yes, relief will have arrived!

Typical August conditions will return today as a Southerly wind takes hold. The 3 H’s will be back. Readings will be around five degrees above the average high of 85º.

Haze, heat and humidity, aka the 3 h’s will be with us through the end of the week as a hot West to Southwest flow develops around a strengthening Bermuda high. The only day that could possibly stop this stretch from becoming a heat wave is Wednesday. Readings may remain in the upper 80s. Three consecutive days of 90º readings or higher constitute a heat wave.  Scattered afternoon or evening thunderstorm are possible Friday and Saturday.

As we turn the page to the new month weak low pressure will be moving offshore. Early morning showers to the East will give way to increasing sunshine during the day. It will be a cool August start with readings at least five degrees lower than average for highs. The average highs are in the mid 80s.

Tuesday will be more humid as a Southerly wind takes hold. Hazy and very warm conditions are anticipated.
