Cold Push Into Tuesday, Despite the Sun…

Synopsis:

Scattered morning snow showers are possible with a push of colder air today, otherwise skies will be mainly sunny. The wind will add a bite. Readings will hover in the upper 30s. The windchill will make it feel more like freezing as cold high pressure moves in from the Northwest.

Tonight will be the coldest night we’ve seen in days with all area temperatures falling well below freezing.

The next chance of precipitation will come our way for the New Year’s holiday. A complex low with its associated fronts will move to the Eastern Seaboard. The precipitation will come in two rounds. The first round is with an approaching cool front on New Year’s Eve day with scattered showers (nothing to heavy or steady). It will dry out later in the day (some sun) and at the stroke of midnight it will be cold but precipitation free. This break in the showers is the result of high pressure nosing in from Eastern Canada. New Year’s Day looks to start off with a bit of sun, but clouds will increase and thicken during the day. A warm front will move toward the region introducing the chance of rain and a bit of sleet later New Year’s Day. The rain will continue into the night and into the first part of Saturday. The sun should return during the day Saturday and it will be mild.

Stay Tuned.
