Sun to Clouds. Calm Before Saturday’s Nor’Easter…

Synopsis:

A fine finish to the workweek, albeit Chilly. Any sun will give way to clouds as high pressure moves offshore.

A Nor’easter will affect the area Saturday. The storm will move due North and hug the coast from the Virginia tide water on Saturday morning morning to the NYC area by Saturday evening. A period of heavy rain is likely on Saturday, most likely occurring in the morning. Winds could gusts to 40-60mph, at the coast. High Wind Warnings and advisories have been posted. Winds won’t as strong inland. One to two inches of rain is likely (map above) and coastal flooding may occur. A Coastal Flood Warning has been posted for Saturday for much of the tri-state area. Tidal flooding is likely and the rise in water may reach one to three feet above normal. The storm will slowly wind down during the afternoon. The rain will become lighter and the wind will abate some.

Sunday will be the better half of the weekend with a mix of sun and clouds. We’ll be between systems.

Another area of low pressure will develop on a second round of energy working in with the jet stream. At this time it looks weak so a period of rain or scattered showers is possible.

The jet stream looks to be very active through the end of next week. Another threat of rain could be on the horizon.
