Hot Monday. Spot PM Storm…

Synopsis:

Today will feature more sunshine as a Bermuda high noses in from the Western Atlantic. This will result in readings flirting with 90º. The humidity will not be as high as yesterday. A spotty afternoon storm is possible.

All eyes then turn to Tropical Storm Isaias. Isaias will continue North to just off the Georgia coast this afternoon and is forecast to make landfall tonight along the Eastern South Carolina coast. The storm may strengthen to a hurricane just before landfall. Isaias will ride inland just East of the I-95 corridor and affect our weather on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Confidence continues to increase that a round of heavy rain and Tropical Storm force winds will occur for much of the area. Flooding is quite likely where the heavy bands set up. A Flash Flood watch has been posted for Tuesday the possibility of 2″-5″+ of rain. A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued much of the area, with a Tropical Storm Watch for Northwestern counties. Winds may gust between 45-70mph. Well inland winds will not be as strong. The coastal flooding potential has increased. How high the tidal water will be will depend on the exact track of Isaias and the specific location.

At this time, I would prepare for possible power outages, especially near and along the coast where winds will be strongest. Tree limbs and weak rooted trees may come down.

The storm will move out of the area on Wednesday and the sun will return. The end of the week will be pleasantly warm.

Stay Tuned.
