Heavy Wet Snow for Many Areas Tonight. Mix/Rain South…

Synopsis:

A storm will track up from the South tonight. Light snow and or rain will develop by late afternoon depending on your temperature. All of the latest computer guidance is agreeing on a track for significant wet snow for most of the area, the exception is parts of Southern NJ. The track of the storm looks to run now from Norfolk VA to just Southeast of Cape Cod. The speed for the storm will keep this from being a crippling snowstorm. It’ll be progressive, meaning it’ll move quickly.  The storm track has nudge to the Northwest with the latest computer guidance. The million dollar question is where will the rain, snow line setup? Due to the new development of the track, the rain/snow/mix  line will be slightly farther to the North and there will be slightly higher snow amounts. A mix with the snow will occur over parts of central NJ and possibly parts of the Southern boroughs of the City and the South shore of Long Island. Mainly snow is expected from the I-95 corridor and to the North and West. Most areas including the City have the potential for 4″-8″ of snow. There will be a 4-6 hour window where heavy snow is anticipated to fall at the rate of almost 1″/hr later this evening to just after midnight. Well North precipitation will be lighter, resulting in a lighter snowfall. To the South mixing will occur keeping amounts there lower as well.

The snow will have ended before sunrise Monday and the sun will return. Readings will be near 40º as the “dig out” takes place. It would be wise to have all snow removal done by tomorrow afternoon as very cold air will work in Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures will be below freezing the entire time, at least the sun will shine.

Keep it here for a no nonsense, no hype forecast.
