High pressure will move for today and Thursday with fair conditions and below average temperatures. The average high is 57º.

It’ll  turn much colder Friday into Saturday as a significant cold front moves by. A hard freeze is expected throughout the tri-state area Friday night-readings will be in the 20s. The weekend will feature plenty of sunshine with readings recovering into the lower 50s by Sunday.

Wet Snow Likely Highest Elevations Early Tonight. Rain Elsewhere…

Synopsis:

The first snow of the season will fall over the highest elevations North and West this evening and early tonight. There will be just enough cold air for the white stuff. A slush coating is possible in spots again over the highest elevations of Northwest NJ, the Poconos, Southern Catskills and Orange County, NY.  Elsewhere, a chilly rain will fall. This weak area of low pressure will move off the coast just to our South early Wednesday morning.

Synopsis:

For the first time this Fall a stretch of below average temperatures will in the forecast. A strong cold front will move through tonight causing the temperatures to tumble.

No major storms are in the cards during the week. One weak system will skirt by just to our South later Tuesday and Tuesday night. A bit of light rain is possible later in the day and at night, especially from the City on South.

Warm Start to Workweek Despite On & Off Showers…

Synopsis:

Our rollercoaster ride in temperatures will continue. Well above average readings will be with us today. It’ll be warm with readings well into the 60s ahead of another cold front. Clouds will dominate with times of sun. Showers are possible just about anytime but the best chance is in the afternoon with the passage of the cold front.

Temperatures will return to seasonal averages tonight as cooler air arrives from Canada.

No major storms are in the cards during the week. A few weak systems will skirt by just to our South but it looks like nothing but clouds are in the forecast from these systems. It’ll  turn much colder Friday night into Saturday as a significant cold front moves through.

Synopsis:

Our rollercoaster ride in temperatures will continue the next five days. From the 70s Friday, the 50s Saturday, the 60s today and back to near 70º Monday. Warm fronts and cool fronts have been crossing the area every 24-36 hours resulting in the big swings in temperatures.

Another warm front will move into and through the area today. On and off showers and drizzle is expected throughout the day. It won’t be a washout. Temperatures should pop into the 60s despite the grey skies.

Monday will be warm again with readings around 70º ahead of another cold front. Showers are likely during the afternoon.

The high pressure over Eastern Canada that supplied the cool air Saturday will move off the coast allowing another warm front to move in Sunday. On and off showers and drizzle is expected throughout the day Sunday. Temperatures should pop into the 60s despite the grey skies.

Monday will be warm again with readings topping 70º ahead of another cold front. Showers are likely during the afternoon.

No major storms are in the cards during the week but it looks to turn much cooler and then much colder by Friday.

The unseasonably warm weather will continue today as warm air rides North along the East coast ahead of a cold front. This will be considered Indian Summer for many. Indian Summer is defined as a significant warmup after the first frost or freeze has occurred. Many areas have experienced a freeze or frost outside of urban areas.  Highs on Friday will be almost fifteen degrees above average. The average high is 58º.

A cold front will approach this afternoon. A spot shower is possible with the passage of the front during the afternoon and evening. Cooler conditions are expected Saturday as high pressure influences our weather from Eastern Canada. The high will move off the coast allowing another warm front to move in Sunday. Showers are possible during the morning but the sun will return and readings will pop into the 60s.

Monday will be warm again with readings topping 70º ahead of another cold front. Showers are likely during the afternoon.
