Rainy, Mild New Year’s Eve…

Synopsis:

A storm developing over the Midwest will be responsible for the rain through the stroke of Midnight 2019. The rain may come down heavy at times. The FutureCast radar above shows the heaviest rain will be East of the City at Midnight, but nonetheless it’ll still be raining in Times Square. Temperatures will be in the 40s this evening. The actual high for the day will occur as we ring in the new year. At this time readings will be around 50º! A far car from last year’s New Year’s Eve when it was 9º!

January 1st won’t feel like the season, as the warm temperatures will stick around. It’ll feel like May during the morning hours. Winds will be strong out of the West and gust up to 45mph. A Wind Advisory has been posted for the trip-state area for the morning and early afternoon.

Colder air will rush in for midweek as high pressure over the plains supplies air from Canada.

The models continue to show a low developing over the Ohio Valley on Friday. Rain will work  in during the day and continue on and off into Saturday as the low moves over the region and into Eastern New England later Saturday. The strong Pacific jet stream continues to dominate and there is no supply of cold air, hence the rain and not snow.

This pattern of no intrusion of Arctic air looks to continue for the first ten days of January. Sorry snow lovers, the wait continues.

You know where to find a no hype, no nonsense forecast.

Stay tuned.

A Happy New Year to all of my followers!  All the best in 2019.
