***SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH UNTIL 7PM FOR CENTRAL & SOUTHERN NJ***
There will be a break in the shower threat with some sun for several hours. It will be very warm with highs closing in on the records for the date. Thunderstorms are likely later today and this evening as the cold front nears. Some of the storms maybe severe. The entire tri-state area is in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms (map above ).
Looking ahead, much colder temperatures are expected by Friday and Saturday. A few scattered snow showers are possible on Friday with a weak low passing through. No major storms are in sight between day 5 and day 7.
Today:
Mostly cloudy. May-like. Highs around 70º. The record for Central Park is 73º. Scattered showers are possible just about any time. There will be times of sun. A line of thunderstorms should move through the area around dinnertime. Some of the storms may contain damaging winds. Southwest winds at 15-25mph.
Tonight:
Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms early. Very warm for the first half of the night. Temperatures will be in the 50s to around 60º then fall off well after midnight to the 40s. Southwest to West winds increasing to 15-25mph with gusts to 35mph late.
Thursday:
Partly sunny, wind and much cooler. Highs in the upper 40s.
Friday:
Mostly cloudy and chilly with a chance of snow showers. Highs around 40º.
Saturday:
Partly sunny and cold. Highs in the mid 30s.
Sunday:
Partly sunny, seasonal. Highs in the mid 40s.
