Synopsis

The Spring feel will continue through the weekend. A washed out front will work through today. More clouds than sun is expected. A few showers are possible in  the afternoon. Super Bowl Sunday will be dry and mild with more sun than clouds.

Clouds will roll in on Monday ahead of a developing system over the central Appalachians. This low will redevelop East of Delaware Tuesday and then move up and off the coast.  Rain will develop Monday night. Inland a mix will change to snow. As the storm intensifies rapidly off our coast colder air will be wrapped into the system both from aloft and at the surface. The potential has increased for the rain to go over to accumulating snow in the NYC vicinity by Tuesday morning. Heavy snow may fall for a time. Central and Southern NJ will be the last to change over to snow on Tuesday. The snow will taper off around midday.

The “first thoughts” map on potential snow amounts is above. A good chunk of the region has the potential to receive a plowable snowfall. This map will obviously change as the event is still a couple of days away. With that said, the computer guidance in fairly good agreement now on the strength and track of the low.

As the storm pulls away Tuesday afternoon the sun may shine for a couple of hours.

A blustery day is anticipated for Wednesday, Valentines Day. Skies will be partly sunny with near seasonable temperatures.

Synopsis

High pressure will slip off the coast on Friday resulting in a Southerly flow. This will bring readings to at least ten degrees above the average high of the lower 40s. Clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies.

The Spring feel will continue into the weekend. A washed out front will work through on Saturday. A few showers are possible in  the afternoon. Super Bowl Sunday will be dry and mild.

Clouds will roll in on Monday ahead of a developing system over the central Appalachians. This low will redevelop East of Delaware on Tuesday and then move up and off the coast.  Rain will develop Monday night or Tuesday morning. The rain has the potential to go over to snow inland on Tuesday with a potential accumulation. A lack of Arctic air will most likely keep the coast mainly rain, possibly ending as some snow. The event is over three days away. Much can change.

Synopsis

High pressure will continue to influence our weather through the end of the week. Abundant sunshine is expected for today with readings well above the average high of 41º.

The high will slip off the coast on Friday resulting in a Southerly flow. Readings will nudge a few degrees higher under a mix of sun and clouds.

Readings by the weekend will have a Spring feel, despite more clouds as a washed out front works through. A few showers are possible Saturday afternoon. Super Bowl Sunday will be dry and mild.

Clouds will roll in on Monday ahead of a developing system over the Ohio Valley. This system at this time looks to be more of a rainmaker than snow for Monday night and Tuesday. It’s the same song and dance with the lack of snow in our area.

Groundhog Day will feature the same ol’ story-clouds. Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow-calling for an early Spring. A front will move off the coast in the morning. A shower is possible, otherwise more clouds than sun is expected. Readings will still above the average highs of the upper 30s.

We’ll go above average with the mercury today as the lack of Arctic air continues as we turn the page to February. We will finally get to witness a bit of sun today, but the clouds should once again win the battle. We’ll take what we can get.
