Today through Friday will be unsettled as a warm front approaches today followed by a cool front passage Friday. On and off showers are likely during this timeframe. There will be long periods of dry time. The greatest chance of steadier and heavier rain will be Thursday night into Friday morning with the approaching cool front. It’ll be windy during this period as well. Readings will be slightly above the average high of 60º.

Behind the low on Saturday skies will be partly cloudy. It’ll be breezy and cooler. It’ll warm up nicely on Sunday as a Southwesterly flow takes hold.

Today will feel like a day out of late May. A warm Southwest flow will dominate around high pressure situated off the Southeast coast. Readings will pop into the 70s! It will be much cooler along the immediate coast and Long Island.

Low pressure will move along the NJ coast to Eastern Long Island tonight. Areas of heavy rain, high winds coastal flooding and fresh water flooding can be expected. The rain and wind will taper off from South to North late tonight.

Flood Watches have been posted for potential flooding of streams, rivers and highways. Additional heavy rainfall is expected through tonight. High Wind Warnings and Advisories are up for the region. Winds along the coast may gust between 50-60mph. 40-50mph gusts are possible elsewhere. Coastal flooding Watches and Warnings have been issued. Tidal flooding is likely especially at times of high tide.

Thursday morning should be mainly dry.  The backside of the storm will draw colder air into the atmosphere so any rain showers have the possibility of going over to snow showers inland. If we’re lucky we’ll get to see a peek of sun.

Unsettled is the weather word through much of the week. More rounds of rain are on the way. A couple areas of low pressure and their associated fronts will affect our region. The main storm will develop Wednesday on the coast and intensify as it moves North.

Round two of the rain will be with us today. This will be a result of a stationary front to our South with energy riding along it path. The rain may come down heavy for a time. On Wednesday low pressure will develop on the Mid-Atlantic coast and ride North. More rain is expected with this system.  Temperatures will be well below average both days with a wind off the cold Atlantic.

Synopsis:

Unsettled will be the weather word for much of the upcoming week. A couple areas of low pressure and their associated fronts will affect our region. The lows will be developing and then organizing on the coast into one main storm later in the period. The first low will move South of the region today. This will result in a period of light rain this morning through early afternoon. The steadiest rain will be to the South with Northern areas receiving light amounts.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be wet with periods of rain as low pressure develops on the coast near our area.  Temperatures will be well below average with a wind off the cold Atlantic.

By Thursday, the steady rain should be out of the area as intense low pressure moves into Eastern New England. The backside of the storm will draw colder air into the atmosphere so any rain showers have the possibility of going over to snow showers, especially inland.
