Sun to Clouds Today. Snow By Evening. Highest Accumulations Just Inland…

Synopsis:

High pressure will move off the coast today. It’ll be much colder than the last few days as sun will give way to clouds.

An area of low pressure developing over the Southern Virginia later today will strengthen some as it moves off the Delaware coast tonight. Snow will rapidly between 4-8pm from Southwest to Northeast and end before dawn Sunday. This will be a quick hitter but the snow may come down moderate to possibly heavy at times for a few hours tonight. The accumulation map is above. Rain or a mix is likely over Southern & Central NJ and parts of Long Island holding down amounts. The low confidence in the forecast is how much rain will occur on Long Island as warmer air tries to overspread the region. The sun will return Sunday with readings well into the 40s.

A strong Southeast ridge will redevelop next week. This will cause readings to once again feel like Spring. Temperatures will feel more like May by Tuesday.

Stay tuned.
