Rain. Becomes Steady & Heavy. Very Cool…

Synopsis:

Hurricane Zeta made landfall over coastal Louisiana Wednesday evening. This system will weaken into a tropical storm and ride Northeast through the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region through tonight. Heavy rainfall is expected in our area from the remnants of Zeta.

Rain this morning, becoming heavy at times as Zeta slides to our South and East. It will become windy at the coast during the afternoon and evening.  The computer models put out between one to two and half inches of rain (The NAM & European model expected rain amounts are above). The jackpot looks to be over Southern NJ, where Ocean county is under a Flood Watch.

A vigorous upper level trough will create a second low pressure system for tonight and Friday this low will develop off the Mid-Atlantic coast and move Northeast. This will continue the rain for the first half of the day. The upper level trough may be cold enough to support a mix of wet snow North and West on Friday. No accumulation is expected. The sun may return later in afternoon with a gusty Northerly wind.

On Halloween (which is Saturday), strong cold high pressure will move into the region from Canada. Abundant sunshine is expected with readings most likely not getting out of the 40s. Definitely a nip in the air for trick or treaters. At least it will be dry.

Sunday will be partly sunny and more seasonal for November’s debut.

A significant cold front will move through Monday bringing with it the coldest airmass of the season so far.

Stay Tuned.
