Synopsis:
Wind Advisories are up for the entire tri-state area. Gusts between 40mph and 50mph are likely. The cause of the strong winds is due to intense low pressure over Canadian Maritimes and strong high pressure over Southern Canada. The difference in pressure between the two is known as the pressure gradient. The gradient will be intense between these systems resulting in high wind gusts.
Much colder conditions are expected for Presidents’ Day through midweek as a dominant Northwest flow from Canada takes hold. At least the sun will be shining.
The computer models have low pressure somewhere off the East coast on Thursday 2/20. All of the latest computer guidance has the low farther to the South and East. Which taken verbatim equates to “Not the big one”. Could the track come farther North? There is always that possibility, but the trend is your friend. I will continue with the potential of “some snow” in the forecast. Accumulations, if any, look low at this time. Let’s not let our guard down, but you never heard of the double digit amounts a week before a possible event from this outlet. It’s a total disservice to the public. The track, like always, is critical.
Stay tuned.
Keep it here for a no nonsense, no hype forecast..
